March event
« on: February 24, 2010, 06:31:50 PM »
Thanks everyone for attending our event last night, and for all your nice logs!  We're glad everyone had a good time, and it was great to see some new faces as well as old friends.

So... who's up for hosting the March event then?  ;D

Can I kindly ask why the events are not held at weekends at all please? Just hard to get to evening events with the "wee" one.....

When we started doing the events (a year and a bit ago..) we started to poll not just "where" and "when", but also "what day".

Most people in the group it seems have no young kids, or can get a baby sitter, or decide that weekends are for doing other stuff, and Tuesday became the preferred day. (It also helps that Tuesdays are generally dead in the pubs (although the Swan in the Rushes being a town pub bucked that trend), and we can blag a free dedicated room.)

For some folks weekends are better, so if you like just post up you want to host an event at a weekend and it's all yours.

At the moment I think March & April are provisionally taken, but you could have May if you like.

I have problems with midweek events too, as I like to be in bed by about 8 pm as I'm usually up around 2 am.

Therefore, I'm looking forward to this Sunday event http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=21eda562-bff1-40eb-a722-93bc0816cd75 organised by emCache member FiddleMad in Belper :)

Although saying we would hold the April event, with a couple of things happening, we were hoping try change to the second week in May? That would either leave April free or if the March event was late in the month then skip April. Any thoughts?

We spoke with fiddlemad about an event, and she suggested the location/day of the week above.  I did say the majority favour a weeknight, but that shouldn't mean she should change it.  I think she took offence & withdrew it as an emcache event.

Who's up for a Sunday (daytime) pub event in March then?

I'll stick to Tuesday night if people prefer but just thought I'd try for a quick show of hands.

Weekends normally a non-starter for events for me  :(

Prefer Tuesday nights personally

We like the Tuesday nights too. Weekends are for visiting, caravanning and caching!

Did you know that most emCache meets are normally child friendly? (although I can see a school night being an issue)

Weekends for me as I generally only have a 50% chance of making Tuesday nights. Loughborough was an easy run for me as well. Just my 2C worth.  :)

Tuesdays are better for us, but as with most of us I think shift patterns determine if we can get.
