CITO event?
« on: February 01, 2012, 08:54:33 PM »
I was just thinking, and wanted to see what interest there was before doing anything else!

Would people be interested in a CITO event at some point in the summer?

If there is, I can start making enquiries and seeing if something could be arranged.
I'd potentially look at Rushcliffe Country Park or the Green Line or maybe one of the Notts Wildlife Trust reserves in the West Bridgford area.

If anyone else has organised anything similar, and has any pointers, please let me know!

There might be somewhere near us Bobbinz! There have been litter problems in the past around local parks!

I think one of the large County Parks is the best place. Rufford or similar.

We did a CITO in our village 2 years ago.
Quite a few cachers said they would come but only about 8 turned up - it was on the morning of an England world cup game though.
We still had good fun and made a few new good friends and cleared about 20 bags of litter.

Went to one a few years ago just outside Derby. Local council provided the bags and loaned some 'litter-grabbers' and arranged removal of the collected litter.

Think there's something on gc.com about arranging CITO's.

If at first you do succeed - try not to look too surprised

That's going to be my first port of call....it's local to me and I've seen it develop over the years! My parents have a photo of us there on our Christmas Day walk, probably about 15 years ago - it was so different before the trees grew!

Is that the best location for a CITO?  Not sure there is much rubbish and there are loads of volunteers helping there all the time.  Like the idea of a CITO but just think there might be better places to hold it.
