Leap Day Event 29th February 2012
« on: December 06, 2011, 01:35:41 PM »
I have just been down to the Navigation Inn at Spring Cottage (near Moira) to book an event in for the 29th February 2012 as I know like us many people will need to find a cache on this date for their caching calendar and it is unfortunately a working day for most!  I will arrange to get the event published as soon as possible.  The pub is very welcome to geocachers and the nearest cache is only about 100ft from the edge of their car park.

We are happy with that, normally EM events are Tuesday, but in this instance it just has to be a Wednesday. We have hosted a couple of EM events in the past so have no problems with that.  I know there are a lot of newbie cachers in this area who would like to go to events without realising the significance of the 29th Feb.

I'd attend  :)
Great to see advance planning.

Still need to find a box on the day mind because I try not claim events as a 'find'.

I'll pencil this one in depending where I am on the day, if i've not moved by then i may well have a day off work to get a few for the day.

Is this the place your talking about The Navigation Inn if so it looks a fine place to have a meet and the menu looks good too  :)

When planning trips when i have a choice of where to stay the order of importance is Caches, Real ale, Food and comfort, the other week i stayed at a hotel where the restaurant and bar was closed due to refurbishment but had a cache 5 minutes walk away  ;D

I hadn't thought about the 29th on the grid, but its an option that only comes along every 4 years, so I will be there :)

you have a calender on your profile on geocaching.com which shows you what days you have found caches and how many and some cachers like to have something on everyday
work gets in the way of going caching

GC392K3 EM Cache Event - 0.0684% Chance

For those who haven't been to the area there are lots of nearby caches including one a couple of hundred feet from the car park of pub

We are planning on setting a couple of new caches fairly near to the pub so you can get a traditional cache as well as an event for the date.  Only hope there are some more published in the area that day so we can also find another cache for the day!

I have only just realised that this will also help fill my "Caches by date Hidden" chart too :) I hope the dates are set correctly on the caches.
